Art Supplies Header

Finding art supplies on Amazon has been great – and convenient. More and more I am finding that the art supply stores near me have very little in the way of supplies that I look for, so before I run out of something, I try to find it on Amazon first. I will add more to this list as I find them. Here is a list of supplies I have found on Amazon. Click the image to go directly to the item …

14 Pack with Art Eraser, Blending Stumps

Great tools for working in pastel! I use them to clean up edges and for detail work. They are also great for giving a smoother texture to your painting.

Cretacolor Fine Art Pastel Pencil Set, Set of 72, Multi

These are great pastel pencils, and I use them for fine details in my paintings. These are not “Colored Pencils.” These are made for pastel paintings. If you compare the two you will find that the colored pencils do not work well on pastel paper, pastel board, or with soft pastels.

Jack Richeson Assorted Hard Square Signature Pastels (Set of 120)

I use hard pastels for details together with my pastel pencils and soft pastels. There are times when the hard pastel gives me a finer detail than a soft pastel.

8×10 White Foam Boards 3/16″ White Foam Core for Picture Frame Backings & Craft Projects Pack of 10

I use foam boards behind my pastel paintings. I affix the pastel painting onto the foam board, and this makes it easy to frame the painting. When shipping a painting to a customer, I place a piece of Glassine paper over the painting to protect it from smearing (taping it in place on the back of the foam board with masking tape), then I place another piece of foam board on top so that the painting (covered in the glassine paper) is sandwiched between the two foam boards. This protects the painting in shipping.

Soft Cotton Linen Apron for Women

Great Apron! Washes up nicely too. I wear this every time I paint.

US Art Supply Extra Large Adjustable Wood Artist Drawing & Sketching Board

I love this adjustable Board easel. When working on my pastel paintings, I just tape the pastel paper to the board and the dust from the pastels collects on the lip at the bottom. I love it, and it is portable as well. Also easy to clean.

Artist Leaning Bridge Hand and Wrist Leaning Bridge

Excellent support for your hand and wrist, when painting in pastel or doing detail work in any medium.

Art Spectrum Colourfix Paper Rainbow Packs Warm Tones Pack of 10

I use this paper often and enjoy it for my pastel paintings.

Adjustable, Foldable Book Holder with 360° Swivel Base

This wood book holder works great holding my iPad in place with my reference photo when working on a pastel painting. It also has a slot for my phone. Just what I needed in my studio.

American Trails Arizona Folding Table

I was surprised when I received this folding table and set it up. It is spacious and perfect at holding my boxes of pastels next to my easel.

Glassine Paper Roll for Artwork

This paper protects your pastel paintings from smearing, especially in shipping.

5X Magnifying Glass with Light and Clamp

This little magnifier light works great for me when I am working on details in a painting. It has different levels of light you can adjust as well, which is nice. Only thing I wish was different is that I wish the adjustable arm was a big longer, but other than that, it works great for my needs.

PanPastel 30081 Ultra Soft Artist Pastel 7 Color Skin Tones Kit w/Sofft Tools & Palette Tray

A nice collection of colors in pan pastels to use for portraits.

Ampersand Art Supply Pastel Painting Panel

I use these for small pastel paintings. They can go directly into a frame (with glass and preferably museum glass) and they work great and are easy to handle.

Jack Richeson 422946 Hand Rolled Soft Pastels Portrait (120 Piece Set)

Great set of pastels! They go on smoothly and the color selection is excellent for portraits and other paintings.

Bamboo Art Supply Organizer, Rotating Pencil Pen Holder

Great little rotating organizer for my pastel pencils, colored pencils, and little stuff like kneaded erasers and pencil sharpener. Doesn’t take up a lot of room and is better for me than having all my pencils in a pencil bag that is difficult to go through while painting.

Winsome Wood Halifax Storage/Organization, White

I purchased this when I was Needle Felting. It holds all my needle felting supplies and felt too. I can roll it around to where I need it while working on a felting project, but you can use this for almost any crafting or art purpose.

Walgreens Exam Glove Ultra Vinyl One Size 150.0 ea

These are my favorite disposable gloves to wear in while painting and cleaning in my studio. They are soft and comfortable, they don’t tear easy, and they don’t irritate my sensitive skin on my hands. I’ve tried other Nitrile gloves and such, but these are my favorite.

Ubbi Wipes Dispenser in Gray

Love this Baby Wipes Dispenser! Perfect for the Artist’s needs in the studio and also when painting in plein air. This dispenser keeps them moist and ready for your clean up.

Amazon Fresh, Jasmine Long Grain Rice, 2lb

White Rice. Any inexpensive bag of white rice will do the trick for cleaning your pastels. This is a 2lb bag for about $2.86 on Amazon.

32 Piece Food Storage Containers Set with Easy Snap Lids

I use the narrow rectangular container, place a 1″ – 2″ layer of white rice inside, throw in 4-5 dirty pastels, attach the lid, shake the pastels around in the rice for about 20 seconds and just like that I have clean pastels. They are great for other studio needs as well, and what you don’t use in your studio, you can use in your kitchen or bathroom

The Cherry Pastel Cleaner

For years, I have used this pastel cleaning vibrating bowl to clean my pastels using Oats. It’s easier than cleaning each pastel by hand, but isn’t exactly the safest alternative to cleaning your pastels because of the dust cloud that emerges from the machine when you remove the lid. Still, it is easier and faster than cleaning each pastel by hand.

100PCS Face Masks, Masks Disposable, Colorful

Disposable face masks are as important for your health and safety when painting in Pastels as is the need to wear disposable gloves. Pastels are toxic and create a lot of dust, putting toxic particulates in the air that will get in your lungs and your eyes if not careful. When I paint in pastels, I wear my glasses, a lightweight disposable facemask, and disposable gloves. If I am painting outside, I won’t be wearing a mask, but indoors it is a necessity.
